Retire in Belize
If you’re gazing east to an azure sea and west to lush green mountains and thinking you would like to retire here in the Caribbean, you wouldn’t be there first. Many of the elegant new condominiums and residential developments in Ambergris Caye, Placencia, Hopkins and other beautiful spots in Belize are magnets for American and Canadian retirees.
Those shopping for a slice of paradise often choose Belize, an English-speaking Caribbean paradise with welcoming neighbors, convenient shopping and affordable health care. A stable government, modern amenities and a high level of education make Belize a safe investment. The housing budget stretches further – you may be able to afford that beach house or mountain retreat.
The Qualified Retired Persons Incentive Program is one of the most renowned immigration programs in Belize because of the many advantages it offers to retirees. Under the Belize Retired Persons program, anyone over 45 is eligible for tax benefits, including exemptions on retirement income. When moving to Belize, qualified retirees can import motor vehicles, boats, aircraft and personal effects duty-free. Spouses and children under 18 (23 is enrolled in college) also enjoy the benefits.
