Caribbean Cuisine in London

Patrick Marche’s journey to strike gold in the restaurant business in London began with a determination to make Caribbean cuisine the most globally sought after recognised dishes.

Now his upscale Caribbean Scene restaurant chain, started six years ago, has four eateries — Caribbean Scene Family, located a stone’s throw from the Olympic Park; Caribbean Scene Royale, which offers fine dining in the Docklands; Caribbean Scene Quick, that serves up ‘quality food on the go’; and Caribbean Scene Hospitality, which operates as a catering service.

Olympics Prime-time Recap: The Caribbean Is Going to Party Like Crazy

olym-pics:

The most indelible image of many, many indelible images last night wasn’t even on the track, writes Jada Yuan in this article for New York Magazine.

It wasn’t just any medal. It was gold in the 400-meter dash, and he won in in 43.94 seconds, making him the only non-American to run that distance in under 44 seconds. From the reaction in that room — the screaming, the crying, the hugging, the practically knocking the camera to the ground from all the jumping up and down — you knew that, if this was what things were like in London, it was going to be nuts in that little Caribbean island, population 110,000. olym-pics:

Grenadian Kirani James won Grenada’s first Olympic gold medal.

Until Monday night Kirani James was a superstar in the making. As of now he is made. James, only 19 years old, won the Olympic 400m in 43.94sec. It made him the first athlete from outside the USA to break the 44-second barrier and, more importantly, it won Grenada’s first ever Olympic medal. James said that right now his home country, which has a population of 110,000, would just be “one huge street party, everyone getting merry and having a good time”.
